TAXES

What a necessary evil. Well, unless you're a politician. Then, I guess, it's an unnecessary evil. But we all seem to be affected by taxes each year. Either you're on the side of the equation that allows you to receive a large tax return at the end of the year, or you're stuck paying Uncle Sam....again! But either way, what you desire most is the ability to do your taxes in the most simplest form possible. And not only that, but you want some free tax software as well. Hopefully you will find this article quite helpful then!

TAX SOFTWARE: THE BEST OF THE BEST

Nowadays you'll find that there are many options to obtain and use tax software on the internet. But which ones can you trust, and how do you know which is the best? I've found that reading hundreds of reviews about the certain tax software options out there would do the trick. But who has that kind of time? Well, if you don't have the time to research the best tax software on the market, let me share what I've learned about the top three tax preparation software programs available. And then we'll show you how to get each one for free!

TURBOTAX

Turbotax is considered to be one of the best, if not the best. A few of the pros to this tax software are:

  1. Great support and help center
  2. Average much more of a return than others
  3. Solid W-2 importing options

The cons include:

  1. Pricing not the best
  2. The screen summaries cause you to take more time finishing

TAX ACT

TaxAct is another tax software with some great options. It has improved greatly over the last few years, which makes it much easier to use. But let's talk about some of the pros and cons before you jump right in:

Pros of this tax software include:

  1. Decent tax return calculator
  2. Lower pricing than others

A few of the cons of TaxAct are:

  1. Importing tax information is cheaply done
  2. Too much legal babble
  3. Not much of a help center

H&R BLOCK AT HOME

H&R Block isn't as well known as an online tax software, but they have a great program for you that allows you to prepare easily online. If you're a hardcore H&R Block fan, then you'd be pleased to see that they have their own tax software now. The pros consist of:

  1. Navigation of site is easy
  2. Decent pricing

Some of the cons consist of:

  1. Importing investments includes a very small list
  2. Help center is not that "helpful", few glitches

CONCLUSION

From my own experience, I've found that TurboTax has produced a +$400 return over the others. This alone makes it worth trying. I also find that TurboTax's tax return calculator is well done and worth noting. Along with all of these positives are the many options of the online tax return.

And if you'd like a free tax software, then ALL THREE will work just fine. One each of these three tax programs, there is a free option. So don't wait and go check 'em out. But it might be worth paying a little for the Deluxe versions. You might even get more back with the many more options they provide.

If you have any other tips and tricks about these three tax preparation software, please feel free to come back to this article and leave a few comments. Good luck this year and I hope you receive a large online tax return!
